About YesPlus

Yesplus is a program of the International Association for Human Values (IAHV), founded by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. IAHV’s mission is to offer programs to reduce stress and develop leaders so that human values can flourish in people and communities. A 501(c)3, IAHV partners with institutions to design unique solutions for broader social change through programs for: universities, schools, corporations, veterans organizations, prisons, government agencies, and international development organization.




Yesplus utilizes an integrated student-led and administration-led approach to offer programs and build community on campus

STUDENT-LED

Students can register an official Yesplus student organizations on their campus and join a national network of more than 40 campus clubs. Members organize events and programs with the support of fundraising and student club grants in order promote and support a healthy, positive lifestyle on campus.

Yesplus Directors and official representatives partner with university administration to implement Yesplus programming via administrative channels, which may include: freshman orientation, campus wellness initiatives and conferences, residential life, and leadership trainings.

YesPlus Talks

Provides students and/or staff with introductory frameworks and and techniques in a lively and interactive format. Includes breathing techniques, guided meditation and practical tools for self-development and greater self-awareness. Can also be a tool to promote the longer Yesplus Retreat.

CONTENT: Can be tailored to meet campus needs, including: Health and Happiness, Resilience and Stress-Management; Natural Confidence, The Secret of Relationships, Building Connection, Leadership and Service.

DURATION: 1-2 hours

GROUP SIZE: Small to large groups (up to 100)

COST: $500 (negotiable)

POTENTIAL CHANNELS: Yesplus club, student clubs or student government, Freshman Orientation, Residential Life, Leadership Office, Wellness Centers, Professional or Staff Development.

An innovative and experiential life-skills training program that empowers participants to develop a relaxed, stress-free mind and an energetic, healthy body, using the powerful tools of meditation, yoga, breathing techniques and self-exploration.

CONTENT: Knowledge and practical techniques for stress management and resilience, soft skills leadership training, strategies for social connection and an opportunity to engage in peer driven service initiatives.

DURATION: 15 - 20 hours (4-5 consecutive days)

GROUP SIZE: 20-30 students

COST: $3,500 flat fee or $250/student

POTENTIAL CHANNELS: Can be offered as an open-enrollment retreat available to all students; to select groups as a standalone leadership and/or wellness retreat; or can be integrated into other planned campus trainings, conferences, or initiatives.

YesPlus Leadership Programs

Develops student leaders through advanced skill-building, regular practice of Yesplus techniques, and assistance of Yesplus trainers. Yesplus leaders learn to integrate wellbeing, self-awareness and social connection into dynamic leadership and service. After completing the program, Yesplus student leaders can serve as a resource to university departments and can help design and support other related campus initiatives.

Includes: Yesplus Silence Retreat (3-5 days, residential) ongoing mentorship with certified Yesplus teacher, Yesplus Leadership Retreat (4 days residential)

Through 3-5 days of silence, meditation, and mindful action on this all-day retreat, students release deep stress and fatigue and develop a deeper understanding of their own patterns of thought and behavior.

Alternative Winter Break is a unique combination of leadership, service and self-exploration. During this three-week international intercultural experience students experience immersion into rural India, integrating their growing self-awareness with a global service mindset.

CONTENT: Design and deliver service projects that address important social issues such as: Improving rural infrastructure • Improving rural life through technology • Enhancing education in underserved areas • Improving women’s health • Organic farming education • Farmer suicide prevention

DURATION: 3 weeks

GROUP SIZE: 15-30 students from universities across the country

COST: $1350 + flight

Annelies Richmond

Director of Training

Annelies brings fifteen years of experience designing and facilitating meditation-based programming for personal development, wellness, and service-leadership through the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values, impacting thousands of youth and adults across the country and world. Through 500,000+ man-hours of training and teacher training, Annelies has trained and supported a national network of Yesplus student leaders, dozens of whom have gone on to become fully certified Art of Living teachers in high schools, colleges, and the general community. Annelies brings to Yesplus her previous experience as the national director of YES!, an affiliated social-emotional and resilience building program for high school students.

Emily Peck

Director of Programs

Emily has been working in the fields of humanitarian service, personal and community development for the last fourteen years with the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values. She designs and delivers experiential and transformational learning programs for youth, university students and adults in the areas of stress management and well being, service, leadership and social change. With an expertise in yoga, meditation and breathing techniques, she has more than 230,000 hours of experience in facilitation, including leading train-the-trainer programs. Her experience also includes academic research in youth and peacebuilding, nonviolence, service and social change, and sustainable development.

Jennifer Stevenson

Director of Campus Development

A meditator and yoga practitioner for 14 years, Jennifer has more than 8 years of experience delivering leadership and self-development programming internationally with more than 70,000 training man hours. Jennifer mentors student campus leaders, facilitates training of new instructors and helps develop programming and curriculum for university administration and student cohorts. In addition to her role as a Yesplus Director, Jennifer leads the Art of Living Yoga program and is a faculty and VP of Client Services for TLEX, delivering training to institutions including Shell Oil, GE, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, The World Bank and MIT Sloan. Previously, Jennifer was at Bloomberg, L.P. both in Tokyo and San Francisco, as a sales consultant for investment management systems, working with some of the world’s leading financial institutions.

Uma Viswanathan

Director of Strategy

For the past nine years, Uma has taught meditation and breath-based wellness and leadership programs to thousands of university students and community members across the country with the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values. A graduate of Harvard University (’01, ’04), Uma brings 130,000 training man hours of experience into adapting resilience-building and personal transformation programming to suit unique social contexts and needs, including designing curriculum for IAHV’s Iraqi women’s empowerment program and winning a $1 million grant from US Department of State. Prior to directing Yesplus, Uma founded and directed Nouvelle Vie Haiti, developing youth leaders for community transformation in Haiti. In addition to directing Yesplus, Uma is also a Program Officer for Community Engagement and Leadership at the Kellogg Foundation.

Daniel Moss

Daniel Moss

Daniel Moss is a conscious rapper and spiritual spoken word poet, a freelance web designer and entrepreneur and a seasoned Yesplus teacher. Daniel strikes a balance between playfulness and depth in the programs and talks he leads, integrating hip-hop and rap with meditation to enliven creativity and freedom in the groups he works with. “We need an evolution, not a revolution – And for everybody to be part of the solution.” Daniel has taught hundreds of youth and college students in the US, including developing and mentoring young leaders to serve in New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina. He graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Music Production and a BS in Informatics

Jameelah Carver

Jameelah Carver

Jameelah Carver has more than 20 years of experience in childcare, youth development and empowerment, and has also worked as a Doula. She helped found Art of Living’s youth programs in 1999, and has has equipped tens of thousands of high school and university students with tools to effectively manage stress and become compassionate, service minded leaders in their communities. She previously served as the co-director of Yesplus, developing new trainers, leading campus teams and community initiatives at universities like Stanford, Purdue, USC, and Howard University. Jameelah, currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and is a full time Mom to their beautiful son.

Matthew Sharpnick
